Great otr microwave. My old whirlpool started dying after 14 years, so i started looking for a new one. So many to choose from. The reviews on the lg were pretty good, so i got it. Installation of the unit itself was pretty straight forward.
I decided to change some duct work in the cabinet above in an effort to reclaim some space. Added a few hours to the project. The lg is fairly quiet and has some great features like the ez-on button which starts the micro with 30 seconds and mutiple presses add more time in 30 second intervals. Also the sensor cooking knows by how much moisture is present that your food is done. The 400cfm exhaust fan has low, high and turbo and seems a little less noisy than the old whirlpool, but a lot of the noise can be from the ducts.
Great microwave. We bought this microwave and have been very pleased. It's large but fits nicely over our stove. It is nicely designed and has many features. I like the rack that came with it so you can cook multiple large items at once if needed.
I also like all of the button selection options as well. The cook by sensor feature is fun and we've found it to be accurate as well. It's also a quiet microwave which is great. The oven fan/vent underneath has a low and high switch, it is a little loud but does a great job so no complaints. I recommend this microwave to anyone looking for an over the stove microwave at a good price.

The Best Microwave I've Ever Owned!. My maytag microwave finally went out after 9 years and was not worth fixing. I purchased this lg after some research. I installed it literally in 30 minutes. I had some minor revisions with drilling holes but it used the same mounting bracket. I turned the microwave on and you cannot hear a sound. I didn't think it was running until i pulled my coffee out and it was perfectly hot temp. It is super quiet!!! i can't speak about durability yet but my initial impression is fantastic! i highly recommend this microwave. .

I sprayed mine with sound deadener where it goes up thru the cabinet. Seemed to quiet it down a bit. Also there's a light inside and 2 under the micro that lights up the range top very nicely with lo and hi. The outside finish is smooth and should be easy to keep clean. I'm real happy with it so far and would say buy it!.

'compared to my last microwave (ge spacemaker jvm1650) it is extremely quite, both vent and microwave operation. 'update 12/2013 coming up on 3 years, still working and looking like new. I had heard the lg microwaves were good so i looked for one that was little bigger more powerful & quieter than what we had previously. I was a little worried about ordering online but i hit the jackpot with this microwaves excellent quality.We bought this microwave and have been very pleased.
It's also a quiet microwave which is great. I recommend this microwave to anyone looking for an over the stove microwave at a good price. My old whirlpool started dying after 14 years, so i started looking for a new one. I'm real happy with it so far and would say buy it. After much research i decided on the lg otr microwave. I bought it to replace a maytag microwave that failed after 3 years. We had a broken ge jvm1540 microwave (our second one of them to break). This lg uses the same sized bracket and holes as the ge so took about 15 minutes to install because we used the existing ge bracket as-is.
In comparison to that ge, the lg has a black window and thick black trim under the microwave that is white in amazon's photo. Update from february 2015: the microwave will now sometimes (apparently) turn on, but not actually cook. I have only used the microwave for about a month. So far, the microwave works well. Previously we had a maytag otr microwave that we fried when we thought we were setting the timer and instead turned the microwave on for 18 minutes with nothing in it.
The exhaust fan is far from quiet, but the unit itself is very quiet. The best part about this microwave is the powerful exhaust motor. My previous microwave had been in my home when i purchased it. Steam from boiling water for pasta would condence on my microwave and drip into or onto the range or into what i was cooking. The old microwave had the capability to be vented outside the house, they just never did it.
The new microwave has a very powerful motor and that was my biggest concern. So when i installed it, i made certain that i bought the duct work at home depot to vent this unit outside. So if you need reading glasses you may have to wear them?????. This microwave is very quiet. We would reccomend this microwave to anyone looking for one. I purchased this microwave 2 1/2 years ago.
This is the quietest microwave i have ever owned. It also is the first above the stove mount microwave i have owned. Recently this microwave started turning the exhaust fan on when in use, even though i did not press the fan button. I have used this microwave very little. I guess i expected a microwave of this size and cost would last longer than 2 years, especially when it is not used very much.
During installing the microwave the light bulb inside the unit sparked. Good microwave however after changing the fan from internal blower to exhaust it make very annoying sound when the fan is on.
Lg Lmv1813sw Otr Microwave. Originally ordered this unit from a different supplier. Took five weeks to get here and arrived damaged. Called to have them pick it up and then ordered this unit from amazon although it was $10. 00 more. This unit arrived before the damaged unit was picked up. Excellent service i'd say. I read reviews about various otr units and found the best comments about lg. I have other lg products and am happy with them. This lg is so similar to the maytag that i have to believe they are made by the same mfg, but i don't know that for sure. This unit fit perfectly onto the mounting frame i had left up from the maytag. All controls are similar except the timer is easier to identify - hope we don't make that mistake again. The exhaust fan is far from quiet, but the unit itself is very quiet. It does a good job doing what it is suppose to do. .
Happy with Purchaseso Far. I have only used the microwave for about a month. So far, the microwave works well. I like the reheat and sensor buttons. It works great for vegetables and dinner plates. I miss having the quick start buttons for 1-6 minutes. Overall, i am happy with my choice. .
